Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Swanson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clark Channell!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swanson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Channell misses with a double jab.
Channell throws a looping overhand right but Swanson ducks down to avoid it.
Channell misses with an uppercut
and Swanson counters with a series of strikes. Channell will be more careful next time no doubt.
A jab lands there for Swanson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Channell looks to land a left hand but Swanson moved out of range nicely.
Swanson misses with a straight right.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Channell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Swanson slips a straight right by Channell.
Swanson moves out of range as Channell strikes.
Swanson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Channell throws a looping overhand right but Swanson ducks down to avoid it.
Swanson throws a lazy right hand but Channell sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Swanson avoids the body shot from Channell.
Channell throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Channell shoots in for a takedown but Swanson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Channell looks to score with a jab to the body but Swanson is just out of range.
Channell digs a good hook to Swanson's body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Swanson misses with a wild body shot.
Swanson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Channell shoots in looking for a takedown. Swanson tries to sprawl out of it but Channell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Swanson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Channell walks into a left hand.
Clark Channell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swanson takes a swing at Channell's ribcage but misses.
Channell swings widly with a right hand
and Swanson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Channell misses the target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Channell.
Dan Swanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Channell.
Channell loads up on a big right hand but Swanson slips the punch.
Swanson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Channell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Channell looks winded!

Channell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Swanson manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Channell won't allow Swanson to get back to his feet.
Swanson wants to sweep here but Channell controlling him for the moment.
Swanson has his hands on Channell's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swanson looking for a sweep. Not yet Swanson, not yet.
Swanson is adopting a defensive guard.
Channell passes into half guard.

Channell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Swanson defends it well.
Channell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The fighters are battling for position here. Swanson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Channell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Channell is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Swanson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Swanson has escaped and now he's on top!
Channell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Channell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Swanson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Channell working for a triangle but Swanson defends it easily.
Swanson lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Channell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Channell throws his legs up looking for a submission but Swanson uses it to pass to side control.

Swanson stands up and beckons Channell to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circle momentarily. Swanson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Dan Swanson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Channell drives through with a takedown into Swanson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Swanson pulls Channell in close to prevent any damage.
Channell stopping the sweep attempt from Swanson.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Swanson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Swanson throws the left hand but Channell avoids the punch easily.
Swanson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Channell throws out a loose jab but Swanson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Swanson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Swanson on the wrong end of a nice hook.
A combination from Swanson does no damage.
Channell misses with a looping right.
Swanson connects with a single shot there.
Channell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Swanson.
Channell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Swanson swivels and escapes.
A big right from Channell misses.
Swanson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Channell.
Swanson misses with a looping left.
Swanson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Channell momentarily.
Swanson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Swanson scores with a hook to the body. Channell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Swanson misses with a series of wild punches.
Channell is breathing heavily.

Channell staying out of range there.
Channell takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Channell misses the jab.
Channell checks a low kick from Swanson.
A punch combination from Swanson misses.
Dan Swanson is winning the standup battle so far.
Channell throws a right hand that Swanson ducks under and follows up with a left that Swanson also avoids with ease.
Channell has a takedown stuffed.
Dan Swanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Channell.
Channell throws a jab but it's blocked by Swanson.
Nice uppercut lands for Swanson. That snapped Channell's head back.
A swing and a miss from Swanson.
Swanson feints and then cracks Channell's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Channell down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Swanson cracks Channell on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Channell falls backwards against the cage. Swanson follows up with more strikes that drop Channell to his knees. Swanson keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Channell! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dan Swanson!
