Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jackie Soap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Kawada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keiji Kawada has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jackie Soap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Keiji Kawada!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawada doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Soap counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kawada wants to get back to his feet.
Kawada is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kawada looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Soap prevents Kawada from improving his position.
Kawada pushes Soap off looking to stand but Soap dives back in and keeps control.
Soap throwing shots but Kawada is blocking nicely.
Kawada wants to control but Soap is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Soap performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Soap seems to be working for a kimura but Kawada defends the submission attempt.
Kawada wants to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Soap in particular looking to stall.
Soap prevents Kawada from improving his position.
Soap slips a nice elbow through Kawada's hands, connecting with Kawada's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soap takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Soap wants to take a breather but Kawada is having none of it.
Kawada trying to hold on to Soap's head to control him but Soap postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kawada changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soap tries to avoid it but Kawada manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soap to the ground. Soap escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kawada gets caught napping as Soap dives in and scores a takedown. Kawada manages to retain guard.
Soap wants to control from the top but Kawada keeps moving.
Kawada is trying to control the position but Soap postures up.
Kawada manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Soap manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Soap preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kawada stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soap swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kawada postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Soap is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kawada, into his guard.

Kawada is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Soap throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kawada works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Soap won't allow Kawada to get back to his feet.
Soap controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've been hearing that Soap has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Kawada is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kawada has his takedown stuffed

and Soap counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kawada won't be happy with that.
Jackie Soap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keiji Kawada.
Soap cracks Kawada with a big right hand but Kawada just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kawada is trying to work for a sweep but Soap has mounted him!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kawada regains half guard.
Kawada trying to control but Soap postures up.
Kawada regains full guard. Nicely done.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kawada is trying to hold Soap in close to prevent damage but Soap has managed to pass into half guard.
Kawada wants to improve his position but Soap is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackie Soap dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Soap moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Kawada closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Soap did well to prevent Kawada getting side control.
Soap is looking to improve his position.

Kawada is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kawada is looking to advance position but Soap won't allow it.
Kawada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Soap keeps working.
Soap keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Kawada is looking for a kimura but Soap is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kawada to get the leverage.

Kawada is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soap wants to control but Kawada is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kawada is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Soap has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kawada is trying to control the action in half guard but Soap is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kawada is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Soap wants to sweep here but Kawada controlling him for the moment.
Kawada wants to pass the guard but Soap is keeping the position.
Kawada slips nicely into half guard.
Soap trying to control from the bottom.
Soap won't allow Kawada to pass to mount.
Soap is not content to let Kawada control the position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Soap works his way to full guard. Good work.
Soap has control of Kawada's left arm, preventing Kawada from doing any damage.

Kawada trying to control the position from guard on top but Soap is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Soap is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kawada is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Soap scores with a couple of nice shots.

Soap lands strikes from half guard.
Kawada moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Soap slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Soap advances position into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Soap is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Keiji Kawada will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

We're going to have a standup here because Jackie Soap wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kawada shoots in but no luck this time.

and Soap counters with a shoot takedown. Kawada fights it but they end up in guard.
Kawada looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Kawada throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Soap escapes and throws Kawada's legs to the side, diving into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Soap tries to stand but Kawada is controlling his head.

Kawada wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Kawada is looking to reverse the position.
Soap scores with a couple of short elbows.
Kawada is trying to escape the position but Soap is controlling the position.
Kawada manages to get back to half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kawada is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Soap rolls with it to try and escape but Kawada cranks on the arm and Soap is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Keiji Kawada!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Keiji Kawada waved his t-shirt featuring KAISER's logo in front of the cameras.
