I think Whitman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Welcome To The Jungle. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Charles Whitman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Alex MacDonald!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whitman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Whitman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed MacDonald's guard.

Whitman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, MacDonald has managed to free his arm - good work.
Whitman is taking a breather. MacDonald says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whitman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Charles Whitman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
MacDonald wants to clinch.

Whitman shoots in and gets a takedown into MacDonald's guard.
Whitman's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Charles Whitman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Whitman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Whitman lands in his opponent's guard.

Whitman swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

A determined Charles Whitman didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
