Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Niku Taku! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Kaz! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Taku. Those never looked like landing. Taku misses with the combination.
Kaz throws a nice outside leg kick. Taku moves into the clinch. Kaz breaks from the clinch.
Kaz drives through and clinches with Taku against the cage.
Kaz with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Kaz lands a right hand that snaps the head of Taku backwards. Taku avoiding damage as Kaz throws knees to the body.
Taku looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Nice body punch from Kaz. Kaz tries to land a knee to the head but Taku blocks with his arms.

That's one minute gone in the round. Taku blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. A head punch on the inside from Kaz fails to land. Kaz creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Taku's defenses.
It looks like Niku Taku has been cut. Taku landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Kaz tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Taku ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kaz moves away. We've been hearing reports that Taku has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Max Kaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Taku clinches up with Kaz and pushes him back against the cage. Taku on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Taku tries to break the clinch but Kaz is controlling the position. Kaz stalls. Kaz misses with a hook to the ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taku jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kaz walks away with a smile on his face. Taku gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Taku goes for a double leg but Kaz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kaz continues to drive forward. Kaz will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Taku up against the cage. Kaz swings wildly with an uppercut but Taku uses good head movement to avoid it. Taku trying to land knees to the body.
Kaz is trying to break the clinch but Taku is controlling him. Kaz stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Taku effectively controlling the action here. Kaz can't break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taku scores with a shoulder strike. Kaz struggles to land a body shot inside as Taku controls his hands.

Kaz lands with a left to the head. Taku throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Taku wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kaz has him pressed against the cage. Kaz tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Taku is working for takedown but Kaz is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Niku Taku. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Kaz goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Taku gets control of Kaz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Taku will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kaz controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taku avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kaz postures up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Taku is looking for a triangle here but Kaz uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Taku is looking to regain half guard here but Kaz keeps moving and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taku walks forward, straight into a front kick from Kaz. The fight stays on the outside here - Taku looks like he's thinking about clinching though. An inside leg kick from Kaz misses. Kaz throws a head kick that half lands.

Kaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Taku closes the distance and clinches. Max Kaz seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Taku has picked Kaz up - he's going for a ride! Taku dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Kaz trying to control here.
Well, if Taku is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Taku is looking to stall here but Kaz recovers full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taku lands a couple of decent looking shots. Taku throwing strikes from guard but Kaz blocks nicely. Taku seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kaz has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taku wants to get up but he can't break Kaz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Taku lands a couple of digs. Taku wants to pass the guard but Kaz is keeping the position. Taku throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kaz works some decent striking defense from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kaz is on top in guard.
Taku has his foot on Kaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kaz works his way back into a safe position though. Taku wants to control the position but Kaz says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaz sitting and controlling from the half guard. Kaz wants to pass the guard but Taku is defending well. Taku wants to control but Kaz is keeping busy.
Taku is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kaz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kaz wants to clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Max Kaz will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Niku Taku's cut. That's time! Taku's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Taku thows a left - swing and a miss! Kaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Taku slips under a jab from Kaz. Kaz tries to clinch but Taku moves out of range. Niku Taku is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kaz wants to land a leg kick but Taku is out of range. Kaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Taku closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kaz quickly recovers to half guard. Kaz looks like he's trying to stand up.

Taku tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kaz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taku is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kaz is just riding it out for now. Taku eventually gives up the hold. Taku trying to control the action but Kaz is working from the bottom. Taku is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Kaz to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. Niku Taku overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Taku pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kaz is keeping the position for now.

Kaz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kaz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Taku is keeping the position for now. Max Kaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Max Kaz was stalling too much, according to the referee. Kaz throws a sloppy head kick and Taku moves out of range easily. Taku drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Taku tries for a kimura but Kaz is defending well. Taku decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kaz to his feet. Kaz misses with a low kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaz wants to clinch up but Taku keeps it at a distance. Max Kaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Taku misses with a takedown attempt and Kaz makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. A shot to the liver by Kaz. Beautiful body shot. Kaz connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Kaz scores with a head kick. Taku tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Kaz looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Taku takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Taku keeps the fight on the outside. The fight stays on the outside here - Taku looks like he's thinking about clinching though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kaz lands with a kick to the temple. Taku shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Kaz misses with a head kick.
Niku Taku has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kaz misses with a leg kick.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Max Kaz. I've got Kaz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
