PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Frettish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Cesar Alcaraz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ed Frettish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julius Cesar Alcaraz!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alcaraz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Frettish tries to avoid it but Alcaraz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Frettish to the ground. Frettish escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alcaraz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alcaraz shoots in looking for a takedown. Frettish tries to sprawl out of it but Alcaraz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Frettish manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ed Frettish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julius Cesar Alcaraz.

Frettish lands a left and a right that send Alcaraz crashing to the mat, dazed. Frettish thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Julius Cesar Alcaraz has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Frettish defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alcaraz.

Frettish drops Alcaraz with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Alcaraz looks back up at him and smiles so Frettish waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Frettish stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Frettish wants it to stay on the feet.

Alcaraz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Alcaraz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alcaraz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Frettish doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frettish manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alcaraz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Frettish avoids it really well and circles away.

We've been told by Frettish's head coaches at EVIL Smackdown Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Frettish counters with a crisp right hand that drops Alcaraz! Frettish lets Alcaraz back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Frettish takes a swing at Alcaraz's ribcage but misses.
Frettish fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Alcaraz to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Alcaraz looks to clinch but Frettish throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Alcaraz taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Ed Frettish!
