Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by McDermott.
Grace takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Grace is not content to let McDermott control the position.
Grace prevents McDermott from improving position.
Grace sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
McDermott lands with a punch from half guard.
McDermott has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Grace is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McDermott's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McDermott's back!

Grace is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. McDermott defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McDermott tries to escape but Grace has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Grace is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but McDermott has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Well, with Grace on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before McDermott is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Grace is working for a rear naked choke. McDermott is not defending it well and Grace has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! McDermott refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of McDermott's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
