The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reyes gets caught napping as Cannas dives in and scores a takedown. Reyes manages to retain guard.
Reyes pulls Cannas in close to prevent any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cannas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cannas looks to land a strike but Reyes avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Cannas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reyes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Victor Cannas wasn't active enough on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cannas swings around for an armbar but Reyes sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cannas's guard.

Cannas is looking to sweep but instead, Reyes has passed into half guard.

Reyes winds up and cracks Cannas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Reyes is taking a breather. Cannas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Cannas controlling the position for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cannas wants to get back to full guard but Reyes has passed into side control.
