Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez has chosen Spill The Wine - War as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Kevin Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Billy Perez!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez fails with the takedown
and Bishop counters with a stiff right hand.
Bishop connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Perez momentarily.
An inside leg kick lands from Bishop.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Perez enables Bishop to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Perez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've been hearing that Bishop has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Perez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Perez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Bishop looks for the body kick but Perez saw that one coming.

Perez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perez is in a horrible position here. Bishop smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Bishop feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Perez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bishop is now in Perez's guard. A big mistake from Perez there, giving up the dominant position!

We're going to have a standup here because Kevin Bishop wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bishop shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Perez as he avoids it easily.
Perez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bishop pinned against the cage. Bishop gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bishop is looking to wear down Perez with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Perez throws a lazy right hand but Bishop sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Perez goes for a double leg but Bishop avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bishop continues to drive forward.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well Bishop has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kevin Bishop decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
