Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eugene Burns III (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gorky Rasmus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns III comes to the cage accompanied by Off with his head- Big Pun. Gorky Rasmus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasmus clinches with his opponent.
Burns III is trying to stall.

Burns III has had enough of the clinch but Rasmus keeps him there for the moment.

Rasmus tries to bum rush Burns III with a series of wild strikes but Burns III uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Rasmus misses with a looping right.
Burns III with a poor takedown
and Rasmus counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Burns III has his foot on Rasmus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rasmus works his way back into a safe position though.
Rasmus distracts Burns III with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rasmus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Burns III might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Rasmus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Burns III has his foot on Rasmus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rasmus works his way back into a safe position though.

Rasmus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burns III. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rasmus can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
You can see the frustration on Rasmus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
