Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Albrecht Hedbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vilis Valdis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hedbert comes to the cage accompanied by Assassin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Albrecht Hedbert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vilis Valdis! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdis closes the distance and clinches. Hedbert is looking to take this one to the mat. Valdis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hedbert prevents it.
Hedbert drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Valdis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Valdis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Hedbert wants to take the fight to the mat but Valdis manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Albrecht Hedbert. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valdis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hedbert.
Valdis lands an uppercut. Hedbert is looking to take this one to the mat. Valdis wants a takedown.
Hedbert goes for a takedown attempt but Valdis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hedbert dives in for a single leg takedown but Valdis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Hedbert gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Valdis is controlling Hedbert's trapped leg to prevent Hedbert from advancing to side control. Hedbert trying to control the action but Valdis is working from the bottom. Valdis is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valdis manages to escape and get back to his feet! Hedbert shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Valdis sprawls well. Valdis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hedbert gets slowly back to his feet. Hedbert is breathing heavily. Valdis has Hedbert up against the cage in a clinch.
Valdis jumps guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hedbert in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hedbert preventing the sweep. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Valdis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hedbert! Valdis controlling the pace for now. Hedbert controls the position. Valdis looking to control and managing it successfully. Hedbert is desperately trying to improve his position but Valdis has a good base and remains in mount.

Valdis is persistently looking for the submission but Hedbert is defending it well.
Valdis looking for the choke from the back. Valdis has the hooks in. Hedbert is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Hedbert is working hard here to advance position. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hedbert is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Valdis gets his way!
Hedbert trying to control the position but Valdis manages to sink in the hooks. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Valdis biding his time, controlling Hedbert. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vilis Valdis dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Hedbert goes for a double leg but Valdis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valdis continues to drive forward. Hedbert wants a takedown.
Valdis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Hedbert tries to pull guard but Valdis holds him up against the cage and eventually Hedbert drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Albrecht Hedbert. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hedbert drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Valdis kicks Hedbert off and gets to his feet. Valdis has Hedbert up against the cage in a clinch.
Valdis lands a nice uppercut. Hedbert jumps guard but Valdis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Valdis lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hedbert goes for a takedown attempt but Valdis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hedbert drops down looking for an ankle pick but Valdis pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hedbert tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Valdis defends well and Hedbert ends up having to push Valdis into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Hedbert stops a takedown attempt from Valdis.
Hedbert jumps guard but Valdis stands there with Hedbert around his waist. Hedbert gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hedbert is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Valdis pulls him back up using the underhooks. Valdis jumps into guard, dragging Hedbert to the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdis looking for a sweep. Not yet Valdis, not yet. Valdis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hedbert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Valdis wants to get back to his feet but Hedbert is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Valdis manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Valdis walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hedbert checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Hedbert closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valdis circles away. Valdis displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Albrecht Hedbert has been cut. Hedbert looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Valdis clinches with his opponent.
Valdis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Valdis tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hedbert avoids it. Hedbert drops down looking for an ankle pick but Valdis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Valdis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Valdis is trying to break the clinch but Hedbert is controlling him. Valdis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hedbert stops Valdis from standing up. Hedbert tries to free his leg and advance position but Valdis is retaining full guard. Hedbert looking to sit in guard and control but Valdis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Hedbert is looking for a triangle here but Valdis uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Hedbert is positioning himself to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vilis Valdis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Albrecht Hedbert's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
Valdis attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Vilis Valdis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hedbert shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Valdis as he avoids it easily. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Valdis rushes Hedbert and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Vilis Valdis seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Hedbert is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Valdis is defending well. Valdis jumps guard.
Hedbert won't allow Valdis to get back to his feet. Hedbert throwing strikes from guard but Valdis blocks nicely. Hedbert drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Valdis dives on top into guard. Hedbert looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Valdis has picked Hedbert up and slammed him! Hedbert can't keep hold of the triangle and Valdis manages to pass to side control! Valdis moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Valdis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valdis decides to stand back up. Valdis steps back and let's Hedbert get back to his feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hedbert. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Albrecht Hedbert. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valdis moves into range and clinches up with Hedbert. Valdis jumps guard and drags Hedbert to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Valdis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Valdis wants to sweep here but Hedbert controlling him for the moment. Hedbert throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valdis pulls Hedbert in to control the position. Hedbert trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Hedbert throwing strikes but missing. Valdis trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Valdis wants to sweep here but Hedbert controlling him for the moment. Valdis keeping moving, preventing Hedbert from controlling successfully. Hedbert is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Valdis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Valdis closes the distance and clinches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A short right hand to the side of the head by Valdis.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hedbert has picked Valdis up - he's going for a ride! Hedbert dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Hedbert sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Valdis defending well though. Hedbert is trying to control. Valdis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Valdis regains full guard. Nicely done. Valdis is adopting a defensive guard. Valdis is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Hedbert presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Hedbert fails to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Valdis pulls guard effortlessly. Valdis wants to sweep here but Hedbert controlling him for the moment. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hedbert pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Valdis is keeping the position for now. Valdis looking for a guillotine here but Hedbert defends easily.

Vilis Valdis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Valdis looking for a guillotine here but Hedbert defends easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Vilis Valdis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Valdis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
