Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George Hagler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeff Monsoon! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hagler clinches up with Monsoon and pushes him back against the cage. Hagler scores a nice knee to the body.
Monsoon looks gassed! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Hagler lands a nice knee to the body. Hagler throws a knee to the head but misses.

Monsoon tries to pull guard but Hagler holds him up against the cage and eventually Monsoon drops back down to his feet.
Hagler lands a nice knee to the body. Hagler gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Monsoon.

Hagler with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Monsoon goes for a takedown attempt but Hagler pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
George Hagler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Monsoon. Monsoon throws a leg kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monsoon shoots in looking for a takedown. Hagler tries to sprawl out of it but Monsoon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hagler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Monsoon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hagler as he jumps to the side. Hagler fails in his attempt to clinch. Monsoon goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Monsoon works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Monsoon misses with a two punch combination.
Monsoon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. A big left from Monsoon misses. Monsoon shoots in for a double leg but Hagler sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hagler fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hagler has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Monsoon keeps the fight on the outside. Hagler takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Monsoon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hagler's waist but Hagler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monsoon off to one side. Hagler has taken the fight to the clinch.

Monsoon is working for takedown but Hagler is calmly controlling the position for now. Monsoon fails to pull guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hagler throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Monsoon blocks it with crossed arms. Monsoon looking for a takedown. Monsoon fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Monsoon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hagler just stands there and leans against the cage. Hagler tries to stall but Monsoon uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hagler tries a knee to the head but Monsoon blocks it.
Monsoon jumps guard but Hagler stands there with Monsoon around his waist. Monsoon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Monsoon looking for a takedown. Monsoon changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hagler fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hagler tries to clinch but Monsoon moves out of range. Monsoon feints and as Hagler raises his hands in defense, Monsoon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Monsoon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hagler is keeping the position for now. Monsoon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Monsoon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Monsoon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hagler pushes Monsoon off and scrambles back to his feet.
Monsoon fails to land the takedown. Hagler tries to close the distance and clinch but Monsoon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Monsoon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hagler tries to avoid it but Monsoon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hagler to the ground. Hagler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Hagler looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Monsoon throws out a leg kick but Hagler moves out of range and Monsoon only half commits. Monsoon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Monsoon tries to advance to mount but Hagler denies him. Hagler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Monsoon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Monsoon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Nice work. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monsoon is working for a submission of some sort.
Hagler is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Monsoon pulls his head out easily. Monsoon is trying for a kimura here. Hagler looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Monsoon wins by kimura!
