PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen Fight as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonny Jon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruce Lee!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee leaves Jon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lee is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Jon has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad The Island in the buildup to the fight.
A lazy left from Lee finds it's target.
Jon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Jon clinches up against the cage.
Lee letting Jon take a breather here.
Jon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. Jon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Jon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jon sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Lee stalks Jon and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jon's face. Jon staggers backwards, shaken.
Jon wants to clinch up but Lee keeps it at a distance.
Lee swats away the attempt to clinch by Jon.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lee throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No joy there for Lee, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jon wants to clinch.
Lee scores with a leg kick.
Lee scores with a push kick.
Lee slaps away a takedown attempt from Jon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Lee throws a quick inside leg kick.
Jon avoids the head kick by Lee.
Jon fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lee is out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jon drives through with a takedown into Lee's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Jon stops Lee from standing up.

Lee manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jon tries to throw a body punch but Lee avoids it by throwing Jon back against the cage.
Lee landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A solid leg kick lands there for Lee.
Bruce Lee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jon showed some decent athleticism there.
Jon is breathing heavily.
Jon prevents Lee from standing back up.
Jon looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Lee is trying to escape back to his feet but Jon uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jon staying calm.
Jon working the head and body with strikes.
Lee is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jon is controlling him well.
Lee trying to remain calm as Jon controls from the top position.
Lee is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jon asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Jon is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Lee is trying to escape and Jon transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Lee is forced to tap! Nice work there by Jon! Very nice indeed!
