PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Weiner Von Trapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Weiner Von Trapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse James!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Trapp just misses with a punch to the body.
James lands a jab-cross combination.
Von Trapp darts in looking for a takedown but James gets double underhooks and turns Von Trapp into the cage.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

James takes the fight into the clinch.

James is trying to trip Von Trapp. He has hold of a leg but Von Trapp is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. James persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
James wants to control from the top but Von Trapp keeps moving.
Von Trapp manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Von Trapp looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Von Trapp jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but James manages to avoid the submission attempt.
James tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Von Trapp wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Von Trapp has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Von Trapp looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
James is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Von Trapp looking to secure an arm triangle but James defends it well.

James turns into Von Trapp and is now in his guard.

James is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
James wants to get up but he can't break Von Trapp's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Von Trapp is trying to control the position from the bottom.
James wants to stand but Von Trapp has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
James postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Von Trapp is trying hard to land a takedown here. James sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Von Trapp fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Weiner Von Trapp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Von Trapp counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James looks winded!
James is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Von Trapp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Von Trapp tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Von Trapp advances to full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Weiner Von Trapp will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Von Trapp fails with the takedown

and James counters by clinching up.

James breaks the clinch.
James throws a sloppy head kick and Von Trapp moves out of range easily.

Von Trapp throws a looping overhand right but James ducks down to avoid it.

and James counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

James gets a trip takedown into half guard.
James wants to stand but Von Trapp has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Von Trapp regains full guard. Nicely done.
Von Trapp keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Von Trapp not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Von Trapp has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think James should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Von Trapp has tightened it up now! James should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
