PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Muhammed Hassan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hartness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hartness is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Call to Arms. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Muhammed Hassan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Hartness!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hassan shoots in but Hartness avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hassan takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hartness throws a nice looking combination but Hassan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hassan dodges the punch combination from Hartness.

Hassan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hartness to the ground. Hassan is now in Hartness's guard.

Hassan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hartness is fending him off so far but Hassan persists. Nope, Hartness circles away and we're back to standing.

Hartness lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hartness lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Hartness tries to keep at a distance but Hassan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hassan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hartness pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hartness scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Hassan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hartness misses with a two punch combination.
Hartness throws a nice inside leg kick.

Hartness lands a leg kick that knocks Hassan off balance momentarily.
Hassan takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hartness looks to land a combination but Hassan avoids it well.

I really don't envy Hartness right now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Muhammed Hassan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hassan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Hartness shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hassan eats them both and turns towards Hartness to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Hartness rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hassan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hartness lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hassan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hartness.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hassan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A chopping leg kick lands by Hartness.
Hartness swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hartness lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hassan circles away quickly and effectively.
Hartness takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hartness attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Hartness connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hartness lands a head kick. Hassan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Hassan dives in and grabs Hartness's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hartness pushes down on Hassan's head and hops out.

Hartness pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hartness connects with a solid leg kick.
Hassan throws a sloppy head kick
and Hartness counters with a head kick. That will keep Hassan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Hartness lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

and Hassan counters with a head kick.
Hassan throws a head kick that misses.

Hassan moves into the clinch successfully.

Hartness breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hartness swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hassan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hartness tries to bum rush Hassan with a series of wild strikes but Hassan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hassan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hartness is fending him off so far but Hassan persists. Nope, Hartness circles away and we're back to standing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hassan is defended easily by Hartness.
Hartness scores with a one two! Hassan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Hassan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hartness's waist but Hartness gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hassan off to one side.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hartness lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hassan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hartness can pounce on him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Hartness comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hartness has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
