Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Stpierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Georges Stpierre was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damian Acevedo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Stpierre! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stpierre drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stpierre tries to advance to mount but can't. Stpierre goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Acevedo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Stpierre but great work by Acevedo. Stpierre regains half guard, as Acevedo was trying to land strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stpierre wants to get back to full guard. Acevedo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Acevedo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Acevedo with the ground and pound but Stpierre uses the opportunity to regain guard. Acevedo trying to control but Stpierre is working from the bottom. Stpierre has a closed guard, preventing Acevedo from standing up. Stpierre has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Acevedo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stpierre has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Acevedo regains guard immediately. Acevedo keeping moving, preventing Stpierre from controlling successfully. Stpierre preventing the sweep. Acevedo is looking for a triangle but Stpierre pushes his legs off easily.
Acevedo being controlled here, momentarily. Let's hope that Stpierre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Georges Stpierre wasn't active enough on the ground. Stpierre gets the takedown into side control. Acevedo can't do much from the bottom here. Stpierre tries to score with some ground and pound. Acevedo controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stpierre misses with the ground and pound. Acevedo is looking for a sweep. Stpierre decides to take the fight back to the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Stpierre looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Stpierre scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Acevedo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stpierre pulls his head out easily. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Stpierre trying to pass the guard but Acevedo defending well. Stpierre prevents Acevedo from improving his position. Stpierre is trying to control the action in half guard but Acevedo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Stpierre decides to stand and escape the position. Stpierre is looking to clinch but Acevedo is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Stpierre is looking to slow Acevedo down with leg kicks. Stpierre closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Stpierre looks winded! Stpierre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stpierre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Acevedo tries to get back to half guard but can't. Acevedo misses with a strike from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stpierre working the ground and pound but Acevedo is defending the strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stpierre trying to control the position but Acevedo is working away. Acevedo is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stpierre fails in his attempt to clinch. Stpierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Acevedo sprawls well initially but Stpierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Acevedo works his way to full guard. Good work. Acevedo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Stpierre gets to his feet. Acevedo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Stpierre misses with a double jab.

Stpierre shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Acevedo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Acevedo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Stpierre postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Stpierre throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Acevedo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Acevedo is looking for a triangle but Stpierre pushes his legs off easily.
Acevedo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Stpierre has gone for a leg lock! Acevedo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stpierre's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Acevedo wants to stand but Stpierre has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Acevedo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stpierre is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stpierre has escaped and now he's on top! Stpierre showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Georges Stpierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stpierre fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Acevedo to the ground. Stpierre is now in Acevedo's guard. Georges Stpierre has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Acevedo wants to stand and escape but Stpierre is having none of it. Stpierre wants to control from the top but Acevedo keeps moving. Acevedo being controlled here, momentarily.

Stpierre stands and steps away. Acevedo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Stpierre looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stpierre in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Stpierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Acevedo wants to sweep but no luck. Stpierre trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Stpierre is pushing down on Acevedo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Acevedo is fighting to maintain full guard but Stpierre has managed to sneak the leg through. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Acevedo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stpierre. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stpierre thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Acevedo's head. Georges Stpierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Stpierre fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Acevedo manages to avoid it. Stpierre throws a head kick that misses. Stpierre rushes Acevedo and presses him up against the cage. Stpierre missing with knees to the body.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Stpierre. Stpierre blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Stpierre gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Acevedo regains guard.
Stpierre wants to control from the top but Acevedo keeps moving. Stpierre postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Acevedo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stpierre, into his guard. Acevedo wants to get up but he can't break Stpierre's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Stpierre takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acevedo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Acevedo stands up over Stpierre, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Acevedo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Stpierre manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Acevedo manages to get himself to full guard.
Stpierre controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Acevedo wants to sweep here but Stpierre controlling him for the moment. Acevedo looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stpierre is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Stpierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Stpierre postures up.
Stpierre has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Stpierre sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Acevedo's guard. Acevedo gets full guard. Stpierre won't allow Acevedo to sweep him here. Stpierre looking to pass the guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stpierre trying to control the position from guard on top but Acevedo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stpierre is stalling in the full guard. Acevedo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stpierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Acevedo manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Stpierre gets to his feet. Acevedo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stpierre feints and as Acevedo raises his hands in defense, Stpierre changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Stpierre gets to his feet - Acevedo follows without any prompting. Stpierre has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Stpierre fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Acevedo, pushing him back against the cage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Acevedo tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Damian Acevedo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Georges Stpierre is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Stpierre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
And that's the end of the fight! Georges Stpierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Stpierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
