Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stu Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragon comes to the cage accompanied by Epic Sax. Mercer has chosen Dirty deeds done dirt cheap AC/DC as his entrance music. Stu Mercer will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Dragon! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stu Mercer! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dragon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mercer is looking to slow Dragon down with leg kicks. A telegraphed right hand from Dragon misses the target. Dragon lands a body shot.
Mercer misses with a straight left. Dragon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Dragon moves in looking to clinch but Mercer pushes him off. Dragon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mercer. Steve Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dragon tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Mercer moves out of range of the strikes. Mercer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dragon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Dragon is trying to control Mercer's posture but Mercer avoids it. Mercer stands up. Mercer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
It looks like Stu Mercer has been cut. Mercer clinches up with Dragon and pushes him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mercer misses with a body punch.

Mercer tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dragon's elbow. Dragon lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mercer backwards. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mercer has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Dragon throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mercers head. Dragon misses with a hook to the ribs.

Mercer drives through with a takedown into Dragon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mercer chips away with some ground and pound. Dragon wants to get back to his feet but Mercer is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mercer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mercer throws a big right hand that misses. Mercer working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dragon's head. Dragon is controlling Mercer's posture. Mercer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mercer wants to control from the top but Dragon keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Steve Dragon. Good standup being displayed there by Dragon as he connects with a hook.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mercer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dragon tries to clinch there but Mercer circles away.
Mercer gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Dragon throws a good cross that connects.
That has opened up Stu Mercer's cut even more. Oooooh!!! Dragon has knocked Mercer down with a huge combo! Dragon steps away and waves a wobbly Mercer back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Mercer is rocked! Mercer gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Dragon points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Mercer wakes up just in time to hear Dragon thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Steve Dragon! Steve Dragon retains his heavyweight title! An out of breath and clearly excited Steve Dragon thanked Affordable Quality + Reliable Laundry for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him). In defeat, Stu Mercer stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'll smack this fool'.
