4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jin Yamato! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamato missing with a left hand there. Kozlov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kozlov gets in close and instigates a clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Yamato has had enough of the clinch but Kozlov keeps him there for the moment. Kozlov lands with a light punch inside. Yamato looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Kozlov lands an elbow inside that Yamato shrugs off.
It looks like Jin Yamato has been cut. Kozlov comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Kozlov holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Kozlov has Yamato pressed against the cage, preventing Yamato from circling away and getting back to striking at range. A nice glancing elbow lands by Kozlov.
That has opened up Jin Yamato's cut even more. Yamato is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Kozlov lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
The cut above Jin Yamato's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Kozlov gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Yamato is rocked! Yamato dodges an elbow strike from Kozlov.
Yamato is still on wobbly legs! Can Kozlov finish him? Yamato blocks the elbow strike.
Yamato blocks an elbow strike. Yamato seems to have recovered his senses. Kozlov throws a big uppercut that drops Yamato! More strikes from Kozlov and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Yamato lies dazed against the cage as Kozlov celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aleksandr Kozlov! Aleksandr Kozlov is the new lightweight champion! Aleksandr Kozlov seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
