Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
19 - 22 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hanamichi Sakuragi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Silva!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakuragi swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva.
Sakuragi fails to land the takedown.
A looping hook to the body misses from Silva. Sakuragi does a little dance to reset his feet.
A decent looking cross lands there for Sakuragi.
Sakuragi shoots in looking for a takedown but Silva manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sakuragi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Silva tries to clinch
and Sakuragi counters with a left and a right that stings Silva.
Silva throws a body punch but Sakuragi moves out of range.
Sakuragi looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Sakuragi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sakuragi lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sakuragi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hanamichi Sakuragi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sakuragi lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sakuragi connects with a good right hand that stumbles Silva. Silva circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Silva is rocked!
Silva misses with a head kick.
Silva is still on wobbly legs! Can Sakuragi finish him?
Silva wants to clinch.
Sakuragi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sakuragi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
A big shot lands for Sakuragi! That's hurt Silva! Will he recover? Sakuragi fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
