PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Escargesa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Frazier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Frazier struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Frazier!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escargesa throws a right hand that Frazier ducks under and follows up with a left that Frazier also avoids with ease.
Escargesa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Frazier slips a jab and a cross from Escargesa.
Frazier scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Frazier uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Escargesa.
Escargesa misses with a series of wild punches.
Frazier keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Escargesa tries to clinch up
and Frazier counters with a stiff right hand.
Escargesa ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Frazier moves away.
Escargesa looks to clinch
and Frazier counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Escargesa tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Frazier counters with a three punch combo that has Escargesa backing up. Escargesa nods at Frazier to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Escargesa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Frazier counters with a nice uppercut.


Escargesa is rocked!
Frazier tries to close the distance and clinch but Escargesa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Oh Escargesa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fight stays on the outside here - Escargesa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Escargesa seems to have got his legs back now.

Frazier uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Escargesa.
Escargesa looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Frazier misses with a straight right.
Escargesa misses with a double jab.

Escargesa has managed to clinch.

Frazier breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Some wild striking there from Escargesa.

Escargesa has Frazier up against the ropes in a clinch.

Frazier's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Escargesa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Escargesa gets tackled into the ropes by Frazier. Frazier maintains the clinch.

Frazier breaks from the clinch.

Escargesa clinches with his opponent.

Escargesa doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Frazier prevents Escargesa from breaking the clinch.

Escargesa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Frazier takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Escargesa tries to clinch there but Frazier circles away.
Nice straight punches there by Escargesa. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Escargesa.

Escargesa scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Frazier bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Escargesa's head backwards.
Frazier shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Frazier dodges the punch combination from Escargesa.
Frazier swats away the attempt to clinch by Escargesa.

Frazier moves into the clinch.

Frazier breaks from the clinch.
Escargesa throws a big shot that misses.
Frazier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Escargesa circles away quickly and effectively.
Frazier pivots, looking for a leg kick but Escargesa is out of range and Frazier settles back down.
Vincent Escargesa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Frazier looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Escargesa clobbers Frazier with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Good shot there by Frazier.
Escargesa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Frazier circles away quickly and effectively.
Nice defenses there by Frazier.
Frazier misses the jab.
Frazier lunges at Escargesa with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Escargesa's hand.
Nice uppercut lands for Frazier. That snapped Escargesa's head back.

Escargesa's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Escargesa duly obliges.


It looks like Joe Frazier has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Escargesa throws an overhand right that drops Frazier like a sack of potatoes! Escargesa dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vincent Escargesa!
