The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatterway clinches with his opponent.
Hatterway has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Percy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Hatterway looking for the choke but no joy.
Percy trying to control the position but Hatterway manages to sink in the hooks.
Percy is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hatterway gets his way!

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hatterway working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hatterway is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Percy can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Percy is in a horrible position here. Hatterway smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Percy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hatterway manages to avoid it.

Henry Percy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gene B Hatterway.

Percy lands a nice hook to Hatterway's body. Hatterway takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Horrible takedown by Hatterway or perhaps it was just good defense by Percy which made him look bad.
We've been told by Percy's head coaches at Evade MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hatterway shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hatterway was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Percy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hatterway on the ground.
Percy isn't going anywhere.

Hatterway goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Percy has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hatterway but great work by Percy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hatterway is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Percy is controlling him well.
Hatterway tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Percy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hatterway is looking for a sweep.
Percy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hatterway to his feet.
Percy stalks Hatterway and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hatterway's face. Hatterway staggers backwards, shaken.
Percy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Percy slaps away a takedown attempt from Hatterway, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Percy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hatterway doesn't seem bothered though.
Hatterway dives in for a single leg takedown but Percy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hatterway has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Percy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hatterway will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
