Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cyrus Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Tanaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cyrus Hendricks has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cyrus Hendricks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniel Tanaka! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanaka dives in and scores a takedown into Hendricks's guard. Hendricks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tanaka controls the pace. Hendricks is looking to stand up but Tanaka isn't so interested in that idea. Hendricks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Tanaka stopping the sweep attempt from Hendricks. Tanaka trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tanaka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hendricks utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Tanaka would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Hendricks working a defensive guard here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hendricks fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Tanaka to the ground. Hendricks is now in Tanaka's guard. Hendricks stands up from Tanaka's guard - Hendricks perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tanaka drives through and clinches with Hendricks against the cage.

Hendricks gets to his feet - Tanaka follows without any prompting. Daniel Tanaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hendricks manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Tanaka on his heels. He'll look to pass Tanaka's guard now, I'm sure. Hendricks stands up from guard. Let's bang! Tanaka is looking to clinch but Hendricks is avoiding it.
Hendricks closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tanaka to the mat! Tanaka manages to get full guard. Hendricks stands and steps away. Tanaka gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tanaka gets a takedown into half guard. Hendricks is trying to maintain the position but Tanaka is very close to passing his half guard. Hendricks is trying to get back to full guard. Tanaka seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Tanaka is trying to control. Hendricks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Tanaka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hendricks's head. Hendricks wants to control but Tanaka is keeping busy.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Tanaka clinches up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hendricks breaks from the clinch.
Tanaka scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hendricks is looking to control Tanaka's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hendricks avoid being mounted? Hendricks is breathing heavily. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tanaka fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hendricks to the ground. Tanaka is now in Hendricks's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hendricks manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tanaka tries to improve his position but instead Hendricks has taken his back! Hendricks looking for the choke from the back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hendricks working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Tanaka is trying to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cyrus Hendricks will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Tanaka closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Tanaka working away. Hendricks being controlled for a moment. Hendricks tries to improve position but can't. Hendricks can't do much from the bottom here. Hendricks is looking for a sweep. Tanaka decides to take the fight back to the feet. Hendricks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tanaka looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hendricks working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Tanaka tries to strike but it doesn't land. Hendricks is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tanaka knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Hendricks decides to stand back up. Hendricks steps back and let's Tanaka get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanaka takes the fight into the clinch. Tanaka is trying to maintain a safe position but Hendricks gets an underhook and turns Tanaka into the cage. Hendricks wants the takedown. Tanaka is fighting it off but Hendricks persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tanaka's guard against the cage. Hendricks gets to his feet - Tanaka follows without any prompting. Hendricks throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tanaka tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hendricks is in Tanaka's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tanaka tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hendricks feints and as Tanaka raises his hands in defense, Hendricks changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hendricks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tanaka, up you get! Tanaka's coach down at Titan Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tanaka's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Cyrus Hendricks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Tanaka moves into the clinch successfully.

Tanaka wants to clinch up but Hendricks keeps it at a distance. Tanaka dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Tanaka gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hendricks to score an easy takedown into full guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Tanaka is working an open guard so Hendricks takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tanaka throws a hook but Hendricks avoids it easily. A telegraphed right hand from Tanaka misses the target. Tanaka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hendricks to the mat! Hendricks manages to get full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tanaka is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hendricks tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hendricks is trying to control the position but Tanaka postures up. Hendricks pulls Tanaka in close to prevent any damage. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tanaka closes the distance and clinches. Hendricks manages to break the clinch.
Tanaka throws a leg kick and Hendricks decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tanaka's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tanaka kicks Hendricks off and gets to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Hendricks enables Tanaka to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hendricks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Tanaka wants to control from the top but Hendricks keeps moving. Hendricks controlling Tanaka's posture. Tanaka wants to pass the guard but Hendricks is keeping the position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Tanaka swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hendricks counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hendricks. Hendricks throws a knee to the head but misses.
Tanaka manages to pull guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hendricks gets to his feet - Tanaka follows without any prompting. Hendricks manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Tanaka on his heels. He'll look to pass Tanaka's guard now, I'm sure. This has been an exciting period of action! Hendricks gets to his feet. Tanaka looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Tanaka drives through with a takedown into guard. Hendricks wants to sweep here but Tanaka controlling him for the moment. Hendricks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tanaka's guard. Hendricks stands up and waves to Tanaka to follow him.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hendricks looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Tanaka! Hendricks tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hendricks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tanaka is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cyrus Hendricks. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hendricks, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
