Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Victor Reinhardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reinhardt comes into the arena with On To The Next One blaring out of the sound system. McGirk has chosen This Is Who I Am as his entrance music. Victor Reinhardt could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dirt McGirk's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
43 - 25 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Reinhardt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dirt McGirk! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reinhardt lands with a kick to the ribs.
Reinhardt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Reinhardt controlling the position. McGirk is pushing Reinhardt's head away, looking to escape. Reinhardt manages to hold on to the position though. McGirk takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. McGirk takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McGirk is not content to let Reinhardt control the position. Reinhardt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but McGirk sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. McGirk felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reinhardt trying to control the action but McGirk is working from the bottom. McGirk dodges the ground and pound from Reinhardt. Reinhardt working the ground and pound but McGirk is defending the strikes. Reinhardt misses with the ground and pound. Reinhardt laying and praying for a moment but McGirk takes advantage and regains half guard. Reinhardt is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and McGirk reverses the position - he's now on top in Reinhardt's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reinhardt looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McGirk trying to stand up but can't free himself from Reinhardt's guard. Reinhardt has his foot on McGirk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGirk works his way back into a safe position though. McGirk wanted to stand there but Reinhardt had control of the position. McGirk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Reinhardt is pulling down on McGirk's head to control his posture. Reinhardt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McGirk is looking to stand up but Reinhardt won't let him. Reinhardt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Reinhardt shoots for a double leg takedown but McGirk sprawls well. He's pushed Reinhardt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. McGirk throws a one two combo.
McGirk misses with a series of wild punches.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Reinhardt wants to take the fight to the mat but McGirk manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Reinhardt lands a nice uppercut. Reinhardt lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt McGirk or not. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McGirk. McGirk blocks a body shot from Reinhardt. Reinhardt working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Reinhardt lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. McGirk is trying to break free. Reinhardt tries to work over McGirk's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. McGirk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice body punch from McGirk. Some wild striking there from McGirk.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Reinhardt feints and then cracks McGirk's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McGirk down. McGirk throws a nice looking combination but Reinhardt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. McGirk clobbers Reinhardt with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. McGirk throws a right and a left that Reinhardt avoids nicely. Reinhardt misses the shot to the body. Dirt McGirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Reinhardt looks to score with a jab to the body but McGirk is just out of range. McGirk moves out of range of the body kick. McGirk connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Reinhardt's hands. McGirk lands a nice looking body shot.
McGirk avoids a lazy jab quite easily. McGirk looks to clinch and Reinhardt counters with a nice kick to the body. Reinhardt lands with a kick to the temple. McGirk shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McGirk lands a jab to the nose. Reinhardt throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McGirk's head. Reinhardt misses with a body kick. McGirk misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Victor Reinhardt dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
McGirk throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McGirk closes the distance and lands a one-two. Reinhardt fails with a takedown attempt. Reinhardt lands with a thumping leg kick.
Reinhardt shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McGirk manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Reinhardt lands a couple of digs. McGirk wants to get back to his feet but Reinhardt is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Reinhardt slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Reinhardt throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reinhardt wants to control but McGirk is keeping him busy. Reinhardt working the head and body with strikes. An elbow from Reinhardt crashes against the mat.
Reinhardt landing a few strikes. Reinhardt throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Reinhardt wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGirk keeps working. Reinhardt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but McGirk sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGirk sneaks back into half guard. Reinhardt is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for McGirk! This has been an exciting period of action! Reinhardt landing shots from mount. McGirk is trying to escape the mount.
Reinhardt raining down shots from the mount! Reinhardt has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McGirk's face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reinhardt is landing with some decent strikes but McGirk is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Reinhardt postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have McGirk in real trouble here! The ref calls for McGirk to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
