Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hughie Beauchemin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jed Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul has chosen Fueled -Anthrax as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jed Paul was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hughie Beauchemin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jed Paul! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paul fails with a takedown attempt. Paul fails with an attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Paul or perhaps it was just good defense by Beauchemin which made him look bad. Paul lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Paul closes the distance and clinches. Paul is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Beauchemin can't fight it off and eventually Paul manages to take the fight to the floor. Beauchemin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Beauchemin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Paul decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Beauchemin, up you get! Paul looks for a takedown but Beauchemin sprawls well. Hughie Beauchemin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jed Paul. Paul shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Beauchemin but Beauchemin pushes him off and we're back to square one. A head kick misses from Paul. Paul goes for a double leg but Beauchemin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beauchemin continues to drive forward. Paul is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Beauchemin is defending well. Paul gets control of Beauchemin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Paul will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Beauchemin wants to stand and escape but instead Paul has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Paul passes easily into side control. Nice work. Paul is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Beauchemin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Paul tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paul has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Beauchemin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paul on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul lands a nice forearm strike. Paul decides to take the fight back to the feet. Paul throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Beauchemin was covering up waiting for the punch and Paul finishes the takedown easily into guard. Paul distracts Beauchemin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Beauchemin can't keep his opponent in guard - Paul advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Paul maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Beauchemin could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Paul has cracked it and Beauchemin is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Paul!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jed Paul! Jed Paul decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
