Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes blocks a head kick by James.

James gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Hughes.

Hughes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

James takes the fight into the clinch.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
James is looking to break free of the clinch but Hughes has double underhooks.
Hughes lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Hughes manages to break the clinch.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hughes sprawls well. Hughes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.

James gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hughes tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
James misses with a hook to the ribs.
A right hook to the body lands for Hughes.
A bit of stalling here from Hughes.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hughes drives through and clinches with James against the cage.
James can't find room to land a body shot as Hughes controls the action.
James has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hughes.
Hughes makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
James blocking some punches.
Hughes wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A punch combination from Hughes misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Still in the clinch, Hughes scores with a nice short uppercut.
Hughes throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hughes throws a punch but it's blocked by James.
Hughes connects with a nasty looking knee right to James's face.

James is rocked!

It looks like Wesley James has been cut.

Hughes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oh James is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
James drops his hands for a split second and Hughes immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into James face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Hughes follows up with a right hand that knocks James into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
