Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Justin Reilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Bickel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dean Bickel!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bickel closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Reilly did well to prevent Bickel getting side control.
Reilly trying to control from the bottom.
Reilly wants to sweep but Bickel has passed to side control!
Bickel working away.

Bickel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Reilly to his feet.
Dean Bickel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bickel has closed the distance and engaged Reilly in a clinch.

Bickel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from Bickel. Those never looked like landing.
Reilly attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Bickel shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Reilly is trying to defend but Bickel finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Reilly is staying active underneath Bickel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Bickel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Bickel with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Bickel thows a huge punch but Reilly dodges it nicely.
Reilly throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Bickel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reilly keeps working.

Bickel throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Reilly to regain full guard.

Bickel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Reilly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bickel has managed to get both his arms back between Reilly's legs - danger averted.

Reilly has his foot on Bickel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bickel works his way back into a safe position though.

Reilly throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bickel escapes and throws Reilly's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Bickel tries to score with some ground and pound. Reilly controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bickel moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bickel trying to control the position but Reilly is working away.
Bickel wants to take a breather but Reilly manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Bickel.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bickel passes Reilly's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Bickel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reilly quickly recovers to half guard.

Reilly has a hand on Bickel's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bickel takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Bickel punching from mount but Reilly doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Bickel misses with some ground and pound and Reilly recovers position to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bickel throwing shots but Reilly is blocking nicely.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dean Bickel was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Reilly enables Bickel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Reilly manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bickel stays in close to Reilly's body and controls the position.
Bickel postures up in Reilly's guard and throws a big left but Reilly blocks it.
Reilly really is a fat lump.
Bickel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bickel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Reilly utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bickel pushes down on Reilly's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bickel trying to pass the guard but Reilly defending well.
Bickel uses his free foot to push down on Reilly's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Reilly.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bickel trying to control but Reilly is having none of it.
Reilly is controlling an arm, preventing Bickel from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Bickel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bickel looking to ground and pound but Reilly is blocking nicely.
Reilly tries to lock up and control but Bickel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Bickel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bickel connects with a solid leg kick.
Reilly dips to his left and cracks Bickel with an uppercut!
Bickel tries to clinch up but Reilly circles away and keeps his distance.
Reilly thows a body shot but no joy.

Bickel clinches.

Bickel decides to pull guard.
Bickel controls Reilly momentarily but Reilly frees himself.
Bickel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Reilly.
Bickel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bickel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bickel looking to control.
Bickel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bickel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bickel wants to get back to his feet.
Bickel trying to control from half guard but Reilly is working away.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dean Bickel wasn't active enough on the ground.

Bickel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Reilly escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bickel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bickel stands and throws Reilly's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Bickel decides to stand back up. Bickel steps back and let's Reilly get back to his feet.
Dean Bickel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bickel looking to score a takedown here. Reilly is defending well but Bickel drives through and ends up in Reilly's guard.
Bickel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Reilly is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bickel is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bickel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Reilly has an active guard here but Bickel has managed to pass into half guard.

Reilly is in trouble now - Bickel has advanced to mount!

Bickel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dean Bickel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bickel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
