Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Liam Lam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Woodward!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodward moves out of range of the body kick from Lam.
Woodward has a takedown stuffed.

Lam shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lam was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Woodward tries to improve his position but instead Lam has taken his back!
Will Lam go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Lam keeps control of the position easily here as Woodward tries to buck him off.
Lam seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Woodward for as long as he can get away with.

Woodward looking very determined here, making life difficult for Lam.
Lam gets his hands free as Woodward looks to control.
Woodward rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Woodward is not content to let Lam control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Woodward is looking to improve his position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Woodward tries to keep at a distance but Lam has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lam is trying to trip Woodward. He has hold of a leg but Woodward is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lam persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Woodward wants to sweep but no luck.
Woodward trying to keep a closed guard but Lam is proving a slippery customer.

Lam is looking to advance position but Woodward won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lam breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Woodward avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lam fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Lam shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Lam prevents Woodward from getting the reversal.
Woodward sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Lam looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Lam prevents Woodward from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lam stalling.
Woodward wants to control but Lam is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lam perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lam is thwarting Woodward's attempts to control the position.
Woodward is breathing heavily.
Well, if Lam is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Woodward controlling the position well.
Woodward wants to control but Lam is keeping busy and won't allow it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lam content to control rather than advance.
Woodward is trying to maintain the position but Lam is very close to passing his half guard.
Woodward wants to improve his position but Lam is controlling well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lam fails with the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lam closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Woodward to the mat! Woodward manages to get full guard.
Lam wants to stand but Woodward is controlling his posture from full guard.

Woodward working for a triangle but Lam defends it easily.
Lam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woodward swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Woodward takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Woodward working a defensive guard but Lam passes into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lam throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Woodward is looking to improve his position.
Lam perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Woodward is looking for a sweep. Lam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lam stalling.

Woodward trying to hold on to Lam's head to control him but Lam postures up.
Lam not doing much here.

Woodward looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Lam looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Woodward wants to improve his position but Lam is controlling well.
Lam uses his free foot to push down on Woodward's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Woodward.
Edward Woodward has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Lam has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
