With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Medereson!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Medereson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Medereson trying to control the position but Johnston is working away.
Johnston is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnston is looking to reverse the position.

Johnston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The ground and pound from Medereson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Medereson tries to stand but Johnston controls the position and pulls Medereson into his guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Medereson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Medereson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnston sprawls well initially but Medereson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Johnston wants to improve his position but Medereson is controlling well.
Johnston is looking to control Medereson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnston avoid being mounted?

Medereson throws a strike but Johnston rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Medereson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnston is one step ahead there.
Medereson is striking but Johnston is not phased and passes to half guard.
Medereson is trying to maintain the position but Johnston is very close to passing his half guard.

Medereson has one foot on Johnston's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Josh Medereson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Medereson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnston to the mat! Johnston manages to get full guard.
Medereson trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Johnston manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Well Medereson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
