Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Vines! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacques Gabriel! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vines stuffs the takedown. Vines slips under a jab. Gabriel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Vines in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Vines working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Gabriel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gabriel looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gabriel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Vines working some strikes from top position. Vines tries to free his leg and advance position but Gabriel is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gabriel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Vines missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Vines cracks Gabriel with a solid left hand. Vines postures up.

Vines looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gabriel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Vines's guard. Vines is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gabriel rolls with it to try and escape but Vines cranks on the arm and Gabriel is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gary Vines! A relieved looking Gary Vines thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
