Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Pereira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mees Metsast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pereira's entrance music is Method Man ft Redman - Da Rockwilder. A fine choice. The key to victory for Alex Pereira has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Pereira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mees Metsast! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metsast cracks Pereira with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Metsast has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Pereira is landing a low percentage of strikes. Metsast pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Mees Metsast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Metsast closes the distance and clinches. Metsast tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Metsast using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pereira has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Metsast misses with a knee to the head. Pereira is trying to trip Metsast. He has hold of a leg but Metsast is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Pereira persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Metsast has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Metsast looking to control.
We've been hearing that Pereira has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Pereira is fighting to break Metsast's control of his arms but Metsast is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mees Metsast wasn't active enough on the ground. Metsast misses with a leg kick and Pereira counters with a leg kick. A head kick misses from Pereira. Good standup being displayed there by Pereira as he connects with a hook. A head kick by Metsast misses and Pereira counters with an outside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Metsast throws a half hearted mid kick. Some wild striking there from Metsast.
The fighters circle momentarily. Pereira darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Metsast throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Metsast throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Metsast fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pereira takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Metsast misses with the body kick and Pereira counters with a nice uppercut. Pereira has Metsast up against the cage in a clinch.
Pereira wants a takedown but no success here.

Pereira is trying to drag Metsast to the mat but Metsast just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Pereira. That's going to take a lot out of him. Metsast tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pereira throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Metsast blocks it with crossed arms. Metsast tries to land knees in the clinch but Pereira avoids the damage to the body. Pereira tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Metsast with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Metsast manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Pereira gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Metsast managing to control the position. Metsast escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pereira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Metsast keeping moving, preventing Pereira from controlling successfully. Pereira throwing strikes from guard but Metsast blocks nicely. Metsast really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pereira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pereira is fighting to break Metsast's control of his arms but Metsast is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Metsast controls Pereira momentarily but Pereira frees himself. Pereira is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Pereira won't allow Metsast to sweep him here. Metsast is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mees Metsast dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Metsast tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Pereira is able to avoid easily. Pereira misses with a series of wild punches.
Pereira takes a kick to the side of the head. Metsast wants to clinch up but Pereira keeps it at a distance. Metsast gets off balance looking for a body kick and Pereira counters with a series of strikes. Metsast will be more careful next time no doubt. Metsast lands a brutal head kick. Pereira looks out on his feet and Metsast throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Mees Metsast!
