Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between joe peery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alekos Papadopoulos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, joe peery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alekos Papadopoulos!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papadopoulos swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A bone on bone clash there as peery blocks the leg kick.
An inside leg kick from Papadopoulos misses.
Papadopoulos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
peery throws a right hand that Papadopoulos ducks under and follows up with a left that Papadopoulos also avoids with ease.
Papadopoulos throws a front kick aimed at peery's knee but peery avoids it well.
peery misses with a takedown attempt - Papadopoulos sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
peery moves out of range as Papadopoulos strikes.
Alekos Papadopoulos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Papadopoulos misses with a low kick.

Papadopoulos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Papadopoulos is thwarting peery's attempts to control the position.
Papadopoulos performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Papadopoulos trying to advance position but peery counters by regaining guard.

Papadopoulos drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and peery dives on top into guard.

Papadopoulos working for submissions but it's allowed peery to get to half guard.
peery trying to control the action but Papadopoulos is working from the bottom.
Papadopoulos trying to hold on to peery's head to control him but peery postures up.
peery is trying to control the action in half guard but Papadopoulos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
peery prevents Papadopoulos from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
peery is looking to clinch but Papadopoulos is avoiding it.
peery fails with the takedown

and Papadopoulos counters with a nice double leg into side control. peery won't be happy with that.

Papadopoulos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Papadopoulos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Papadopoulos misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Papadopoulos tries to advance to mount but can't.
You can see the frustration on peery's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Papadopoulos trying to control the action but peery is working from the bottom.
Papadopoulos working away.
Papadopoulos working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
peery tries to bench press Papadopoulos off him but Papadopoulos keeps the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
peery doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Papadopoulos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for joe peery. That's going to take a lot out of him.
peery looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
peery is working hard here to advance position.
peery will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Papadopoulos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but peery manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Papadopoulos has peery in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

peery drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and peery jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Papadopoulos isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. peery stacks Papadopoulos on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by peery!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Papadopoulos can do anything to dispel that myth.
Papadopoulos manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
peery prevents Papadopoulos from improving his position.

peery wants to work for an arm triangle but Papadopoulos is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alekos Papadopoulos dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Papadopoulos drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Papadopoulos seems to have locked his on tight now - peery screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Papadopoulos, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Alekos Papadopoulos!
