The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veide misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Fathy takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
It looks like Sherif Fathy has been cut.
Veide throws the left hand but Fathy avoids the punch easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fathy chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Veide can pounce on him.
Varg Veide seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some bone on bone action there as Fathy checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

That was a close round but I would say that Varg Veide will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Fathy drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Veide throws a right and a left that both miss.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Varg Veide just wasn't active enough.
Veide shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fathy eats them both and turns towards Veide to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Veide finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Fathy needs to keep his hands up - Veide had a free shot at his head there.
Veide takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Varg Veide.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Veide, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Varg Veide was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
