PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pete Schwetty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dong Ming Pak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pete Schwetty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dong Ming Pak!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pak ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Pak moves out of range of the leg kick from Schwetty.
Pak fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schwetty manages to avoid it.
Schwetty uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pak.
Schwetty connects with a looping right hand.
Schwetty fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pak manages to avoid it.
Schwetty throws a body kick that misses.
Pak fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Schwetty was well out of range. Poor timing from Pak.
Schwetty throws out a loose jab but Pak uses good head movement to avoid it.
Schwetty fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pak.
Pak connects with the punch.
Pak takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Pak sizes up Schwetty with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Pak takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Schwetty swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Pak counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schwetty won't be happy with that.
Pak lands a decent elbow from side control.
Pak creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Pak has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Schwetty wants to hold on but Pak pushes him away.

Pak jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Schwetty manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Pak in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Schwetty tries to bench press Pak off him but Pak keeps the position.
Pak scoring with punches from side control.

Pak is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Schwetty is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pak tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pak has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Pak tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Pak tries for a kimura but Schwetty is defending well.
Pak sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Schwetty is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schwetty seems a little lost for a moment, as Pak dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pak trying to control the position but Schwetty is working away.

Pak looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
A lull in the action here.

Pak is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Schwetty looks calm but he's in trouble here. Pak gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Schwetty is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Pak lets go of the hold and Schwetty can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dong Ming Pak!
In his post fight interview, Dong Ming Pak started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
