Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Eugene Carl Alexander Burns!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman tries to clinch up but Burns circles away and keeps his distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Burns enables Coleman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Burns manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Coleman throwing strikes from guard but Burns blocks nicely.
Burns keeping moving, preventing Coleman from controlling successfully.
Coleman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Coleman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Coleman throws an elbow that misses. Burns uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Coleman's guard. Nice move by Burns!
Coleman wants to stand and escape but Burns is having none of it.
Coleman wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Burns manages to pass to side control.
Coleman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Burns wants to stand up but Coleman is controlling the position.

Coleman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Nate Coleman.
Coleman throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Coleman pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Coleman doesn't manage to clinch there - Burns circles away.

Coleman rushes Burns and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Coleman has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Burns is trying to keep an underhook but Coleman manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Coleman is taking a breather. Burns says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Coleman wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.

Burns won't allow Coleman to pass to mount.
Coleman is thwarting Burns's attempts to control the position.

Nate Coleman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Burns wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Coleman has him pressed against the cage.
Burns looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Coleman wants the takedown. Burns is fighting it off but Coleman persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Burns's guard against the cage.

Coleman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burns's guard.
Coleman stands and throws Burns's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Coleman thows a strike but Burns uses the opportunity to reverse the position! Great move by Burns as he ends up in Coleman 's guard!

Burns wanted to stand there but Coleman had control of the position.

Coleman wants to control the position but Burns says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Burns blocks the strikes from Coleman.
Coleman throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Coleman wants to improve his position but Burns is controlling well.
Coleman trying to hold on to Burns's head to control him but Burns postures up.
Burns stops Coleman from getting back to his feet.

Coleman tries to kick Burns off in order to stand up. Burns Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Coleman throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Burns tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Coleman tries to bench press Burns off him but Burns keeps the position.

Coleman looking for a sweep but Burns has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Coleman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Coleman gets back to half guard.
Burns wants to stand but Coleman has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Coleman tries to kick Burns off but Burns keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well Coleman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
