The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reigns tries to clinch up
and Zaitzev counters with a nice uppercut.
Zaitzev forces Reigns back against the cage and clinches.
Reigns is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Reigns looking to throw knees to the head but Zaitzev is blocking nicely.
Reigns misses with a knee strike.
Zaitzev drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Reigns gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Reigns is looking to break free of the clinch but Zaitzev has double underhooks.

Reigns has picked Zaitzev up - he's going for a ride! Reigns dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Reigns tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reigns has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Reigns is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zaitzev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Zaitzev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Reigns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Zaitzev wants to get back to his feet but Reigns drags him back down.
Reigns tries to move into full mount but can't pass Zaitzev's legs.
Zaitzev looks to move to half guard but instead Reigns has passed into mount! Damn!
Reigns trying to control but Zaitzev is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Zaitzev tries to lock up and control but Reigns gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Roman Reigns will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Zaitzev lands a high kick!
Zaitzev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reigns swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Reigns drives through with a takedown into guard.
Zaitzev looking for a guillotine here but Reigns defends easily.
Reigns wants to stand but Zaitzev is controlling his posture from full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Zaitzev is working an open guard so Reigns takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Reigns keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reigns closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zaitzev to the mat! Zaitzev manages to get full guard.
Reigns got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zaitzev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Reigns has managed to get both his arms back between Zaitzev's legs - danger averted.
Reigns stays in close to Zaitzev's body and controls the position.
Reigns is looking to stand up but Zaitzev won't let him.

Zaitzev makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zaitzev.

Zaitzev looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Zaitzev is looking to stand up but Reigns isn't so interested in that idea.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reigns not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Zaitzev is looking to cinch up a triangle. Reigns throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Zaitzev's body to avoid the submission. Zaitzev has instead reached around Reigns's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Zaitzev arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
