PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maku Hiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maku Hiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Hunter!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunter as he avoids it easily.
Hunter stuffs the takedown attempt from Hiro. Hiro gets slowly back to his feet.
Hiro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hunter defends well and Hiro ends up having to push Hunter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maku Hiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter scores with a shot to the side of Hiro's head.
Hunter lands a hook that snaps the head of Hiro backwards.
Hiro's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hiro is trying to stall.

Hunter breaks the clinch.
Hiro drops his hands momentarily and Hunter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Hiro shoots in and bounces Hunter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hunter looking for subs off his back but Hiro has passed one foot through into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hiro prevents Hunter from standing back up.
Hunter is not content to let Hiro control the position.

Hunter kicks off Hiro and gets to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hiro darts in looking for a takedown but Hunter gets double underhooks and turns Hiro into the cage.
A short left from Hunter.
Hiro tries to work over Hunter's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hunter lands a left hand.
Hunter gets through Hiro's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hiro is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Hiro is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hunter gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hunter breaks from the clinch.
Hunter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hunter wants it to stay on the feet.
Hunter throws a right hand that Hiro ducks under and follows up with a left that Hiro also avoids with ease.
Hunter slips a straight right by Hiro.
Hiro takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hunter staying out of range there.
Hiro shoots in looking for a takedown but Hunter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hiro's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hiro walks into a stiff left hand from Hunter.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hunter connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hiro. Hiro circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


Hiro is rocked!
Hiro dives in for a single leg takedown but Hunter sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Oh Hiro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hiro tries to stall but Hunter uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hiro seems to have got his legs back now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunter lands an uppercut.

Hunter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hiro is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hiro gets a takedown into half guard.

Hunter with the active half guard here but Hiro passes nicely into side control.
Hunter is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hiro has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Hunter is looking to regain half guard here but Hiro keeps moving and retains side control.
Hunter takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hunter is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hiro is controlling him well.
Hiro cracks Hunter with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Hunter tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter tries to escape but Hiro is in control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hiro lands an elbow.
Hunter is pushing Hiro's head away, looking to escape. Hiro manages to hold on to the position though.
Hiro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Hiro cracks Hunter with a big elbow.
Hunter is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hiro has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Hunter is trying to improve his position.
Hunter tries to escape but Hiro is in control.
Hiro advances to full mount.
Hunter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Hiro landing punches.
Hunter is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Hiro lands a heavy elbow.
Hunter is trying to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hiro putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Hiro fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunter can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hiro landing punches.
A nice elbow there by Hiro.
Hunter is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hiro scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hunter can't escape the position.

Hiro takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hiro with the ground and pound from mount.
Hunter is looking to get to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hiro is landing with some decent strikes but Hunter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
You get the feeling that Hunter really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hunter working to try and regain half guard.
Hiro scoring with strikes but Hunter is staying in there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Maku Hiro will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Hiro throws a body punch but Hunter moves out of range.
Hiro just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab from Hunter does it's job there.
Hunter is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Hunter slaps away a takedown attempt from Hiro, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hunter lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Hunter jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hiro is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Hiro looks for a takedown but Hunter sprawls well.
Hunter has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
A punch lands to the side of Hiro 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hiro takes one on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hiro is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Hunter might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Hunter steps in with a hook that catches Hiro right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Hunter follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Hiro looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Justin Hunter!
Maku Hiro was interviewed post fight and said 'What can I say besides he is brutal right? Haha, but listen to the crowd, sharing the same belief in how they feel. They are bonded into one thought and that is what it is all about here at Wolf. Creating a pack, a fan base that becomes a family. Together, him and I made it happen so I thank you all'.
