Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Napier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Larente Kozart!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kozart fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kozart dives in for a single leg takedown but Napier sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Napier pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Napier is trying to drag Kozart to the mat but Kozart just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Napier looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Kozart decides to pull guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kozart wants to sweep here but Napier controlling him for the moment.
Napier's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kozart trying to keep a closed guard but Napier is proving a slippery customer.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kozart is on top in guard.
Kozart trying to control but Napier is working from the bottom.

Napier looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kozart is one step ahead there.

Napier looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kozart working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Napier has his foot on Kozart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kozart works his way back into a safe position though.

Kozart stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Napier just misses with a punch to the body.
Napier dodges the punch combination from Kozart.
Napier is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

Napier closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kozart is looking for a sweep.
Napier trying to control the position but Kozart is working away.
Kozart gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Kozart is in a horrible position here. Napier smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Napier landing strikes from the mount and Kozart is in trouble!
Napier cracks Kozart with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Napier is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Kozart tries to roll over but Napier keeps him under control.

Napier moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Kozart.
Kozart looks winded!
Kozart pushes Napier away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Napier gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Napier takes a little break here. Kozart wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Napier tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Napier thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Napier wants to control but Kozart is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kozart prevents Napier from improving position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kozart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Napier.
Napier scores with the left hand. Kozart knows he should have avoided that one.

Napier is trying to push Kozart away but Kozart has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Napier is trying to break the clinch but Kozart has him pressed against the cage.
Napier is trying to maintain a safe position but Kozart gets an underhook and turns Napier into the cage.

Kozart jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Napier walks away with a smile on his face. Kozart gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Napier in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kozart looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kozart is breathing heavily.
Napier slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Napier.

Napier closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kozart did well to prevent Napier getting side control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Napier in particular looking to stall.
Napier is keen to just control but Kozart is a slippery customer.

Well, if Napier is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack Napier wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kozart clinches up with Napier and pushes him back against the cage.
Napier changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kozart fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Kozart throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Napier.

Larente Kozart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crunch! Kozart slams his shin into Napier's torso.

Napier throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Napier seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kozart does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Napier is really struggling to control Kozart but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Napier with shots to the head and body - Kozart looks very uncomfortable down there.
Napier lands a big shot there that rocks Kozart but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Napier wants to finish this one by submission but Kozart is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Napier.

Napier fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Napier tries to control but Kozart wriggling away.

Napier is working for a guillotine from mount but Kozart frees his head quite easily.

Napier is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kozart is surviving well by controlling Napier's body position as best he can.
Napier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee warns Kozart that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Napier showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Napier has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
