Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Meguru Takayanagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishikawa's entrance music is mindshift genki sudo. A fine choice. Takayanagi has chosen All Rounder Meguru as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Ishikawa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Meguru Takayanagi! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ishikawa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ishikawa wants it to stay on the feet. Ishikawa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Takayanagi throws a sloppy head kick and Ishikawa moves out of range easily. Ishikawa throws a head kick but Takayanagi moves out of range.
Ishikawa gets a clinch. Ishikawa taking a breather. Takayanagi scores with a shoulder strike. Takayanagi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Takayanagi manages to end up in side control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Ishikawa gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Ishikawa wants to control but Takayanagi is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takayanagi prevents Ishikawa from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ishikawa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Takayanagi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Takayanagi's back! Takayanagi rolls, trying to escape but Ishikawa keeps control of the position.
Ishikawa looking for the choke but no joy. Ishikawa is trying to stick to Takayanagi's back but Takayanagi is turning into Ishikawa. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ishikawa's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Takayanagi. Takayanagi wants to control from the top but Ishikawa keeps moving. Takayanagi stopping the sweep attempt from Ishikawa. Ishikawa looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Takayanagi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takayanagi missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ishikawa is in trouble now - Takayanagi has advanced to mount! Takayanagi is landing with some decent strikes but Ishikawa is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Ishikawa in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ishikawa gets back to half guard. Ishikawa looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Takayanagi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ishikawa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Ishikawa has hold of Takayanagi's hands but Takayanagi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Ishikawa has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Takayanagi is on him like a limpet, forcing Ishikawa back against the cage. Takayanagi makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Takayanagi has Ishikawa pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ishikawa manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Takayanagi wants a takedown but no success here.
Akira Ishikawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Meguru Takayanagi. Takayanagi takes an elbow to the temple. Takayanagi tries for a takedown. No joy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A head kick by Ishikawa misses and Takayanagi counters with a stiff right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takayanagi is pressing down on Ishikawa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Takayanagi keeping moving, preventing Ishikawa from controlling successfully.

Ishikawa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Takayanagi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ishikawa has managed to get both his arms back between Takayanagi's legs - danger averted. Takayanagi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ishikawa is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Takayanagi. Takayanagi is trying to get back to half guard. Takayanagi is still trying to improve position.

We've been hearing that Ishikawa has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. That was a close second round but I would say that Akira Ishikawa will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ishikawa. A bone on bone clash there as Ishikawa blocks the leg kick.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ishikawa darts in and clinches Takayanagi up against the cage. Ishikawa is looking to control Takayanagi's arms but Takayanagi gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ishikawa has his back to the cage. Takayanagi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ishikawa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Akira Ishikawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Meguru Takayanagi. Ishikawa content to slow the pace in the clinch.
