Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 15 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Domingo Perez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricky Steamboat! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez tries a low kick but Steamboat avoids it. Steamboat throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Perez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Steamboat ducks under a wild hook from Perez. Perez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Perez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Steamboat is able to avoid easily. A slapping body kick lands there for Steamboat. Perez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Perez slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Perez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Steamboat blocks a jab. Perez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Steamboat. Steamboat obviously looking to wear him down.
Perez is looking to chop away at Steamboat's legs. Perez misses the body punch and Steamboat counters with an inside leg kick. Perez swings for the body but Steamboat moves out of range.
Steamboat scores with a jab to the body. Steamboat cracks Perez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Steamboat misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Steamboat takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Perez checks a leg kick. Perez cracks Steamboat with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Perez on the wrong end of a nice jab. Steamboat looks to score with a jab to the body but Perez is just out of range. Steamboat misses with a straight right. Perez fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Steamboat is out of range. Steamboat misses with a hook to the body
and Perez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Steamboat won't be happy with that. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Perez controlling from side mount. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Perez working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Steamboat is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Perez wants to control but Steamboat is keeping him busy. Perez in side control, just content to control the action for now. Steamboat is trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Perez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Steamboat will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steamboat tries to buck Perez off but Perez is having none of it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Steamboat misses the shot to the body. Perez throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Steamboat looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Perez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Steamboat throws a leg kick that is checked and Perez counters with a takedown into side control. Steamboat regains half guard. Perez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Perez tries to pass to full mount but Steamboat defends it. Steamboat is looking to improve his position.
Steamboat manages to escape and get back to his feet! Perez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Steamboat. Steamboat is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Perez rather than just go for the knockout. Steamboat looks to score with a jab to the body but Perez is just out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Perez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Perez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Steamboat has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Steamboat and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. That kick from Perez tenderised Steamboat's leg. Steamboat is trying to keep his angry face on. Steamboat misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Perez will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Steamboat is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Nice shot by Perez. Perez dives in and grabs Steamboat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Steamboat pushes down on Perez's head and hops out. Steamboat lands a nice looking kick to the body. Perez takes a step back to recover. Steamboat checks a low kick from Perez. Steamboat ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. We're going to have a standup here because Domingo Perez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Steamboat takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Ricky Steamboat is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Perez motions for Steamboat to come forward. Perez throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Steamboat, as that shot connected.

Perez lands some shots froms side control. Steamboat can't do much from the bottom here. Perez is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Steamboat looks calm but he's in trouble here. Perez gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Steamboat is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Perez lets go of the hold and Steamboat can pop his arm back in it's socket.
