Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel McGowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Bova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGowen comes into the arena with Control - Kendrick Lamar blaring out of the sound system. Gabriel McGowen could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Anthony Bova's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel McGowen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Bova! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGowen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bova. Bova ducks under a wild hook from McGowen. McGowen cracks Bova with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. McGowen fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McGowen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Bova prevents McGowen from improving position. McGowen works to advance to full mount. Bova defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. McGowen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bova is looking to escape. McGowen controlling from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bova manages to regain half guard. Good work. Well, if McGowen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McGowen looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Gabriel McGowen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. McGowen throws a right and a left that Bova avoids nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGowen throws a head kick that misses. McGowen misses with a body shot.
McGowen fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bova shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and McGowen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bova won't be happy with that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McGowen has knee on belly and moves into mount. McGowen controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bova tries to reverse the position but McGowen maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGowen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gabriel McGowen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. McGowen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bova takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Bova takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
McGowen throws a good cross that connects.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGowen tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Bova with a lazy takedown attempt so McGowen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gabriel McGowen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Bova. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bova isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McGowen stacks Bova on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McGowen! McGowen trying to control the position but Bova is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gabriel McGowen dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
McGowen just misses with a punch to the body.
McGowen lands with an overhand left. Bova checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Anthony Bova is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bova closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McGowen's guard. Bova throws a strike but McGowen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. McGowen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bova's guard. McGowen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. McGowen is working for an americana but Bova has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst McGowen was thinking about the submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bova striking off his back but it's not causing McGowen any problems. Bova has his foot on McGowen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGowen works his way back into a safe position though. McGowen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. McGowen works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGowen wants to pass the guard but Bova is defending well. Bova regains full guard. Nicely done. McGowen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Gabriel McGowen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. McGowen passes into half guard. McGowen is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bova!
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGowen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. McGowen looking to control but Bova is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. McGowen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Bova really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGowen controlling the position easily from mount. McGowen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. McGowen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bova for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gabriel McGowen dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
McGowen lands a leg kick that knocks Bova off balance momentarily. Nice takedown defense from McGowen. No joy for Bova on that attempt. Bova doesn't succeed with the takedown and McGowen counters with a nice double leg into half guard. McGowen works his way into full mount! McGowen putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! McGowen content just to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bova is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. McGowen wants to control the pace but Bova is squirming around nicely. Bova gets back to half guard. McGowen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Bova is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and McGowen has latched onto it... Big trouble! McGowen pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Bova is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from McGowen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gabriel McGowen! A less than humble Gabriel McGowen misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
