Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Muzi Munthali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Dash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Muzi Munthali!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Dash!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dash tries a head kick but it misses.
Dash throws a sloppy head kick and Munthali moves out of range easily.
Munthali stuffs the takedown attempt from Dash. Dash gets slowly back to his feet.
Munthali misses with a looping right.
Dash throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Munthali darts in and clinches Dash up against the cage.

Dash has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Munthali lands with a short shot to the head.
Munthali content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Dash misses with a knee to the head.

Munthali keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dash's efforts to push away.

Munthali needs to keep his hands up - Dash had a free shot at his head there.
Munthali avoids the head kick by Dash.
Dash throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dash pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dash tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Munthali was well out of range. Poor timing from Dash.
Dash pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Munthali drives through with a takedown into Dash's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Munthali wants to control from the top but Dash keeps moving.
Munthali working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Munthali wants to pass the guard but Dash is keeping the position.

Munthali stands and steps away. Dash gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Dash tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Munthali paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dash tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Munthali counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Munthali.
Dash looks winded!
Dash is trying to control the position but Munthali postures up.
Dash might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Munthali haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Munthali stands up from Dash's guard - Munthali perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dash jabs Munthali to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Dash lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Munthali gets the takedown into side control.
Dash is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Munthali is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Munthali is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dash to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dash shrugs it off.

Munthali is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dash has managed to escape the submission attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Munthali unloads with some shots from mount but Dash bucks and avoids them well.
The referee warns Dash that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Dash tries to hold on but Munthali pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dash slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Muzi Munthali dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dash lands with a kick to the temple. Munthali shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Dash counters with a nice kick to the body.
Dash misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnny Dash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dash scores with a decent looking hook.

Munthali shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Munthali is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dash lands an upkick as Munthali stands over him.

Munthali postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dash is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Munthali, into his guard.
Dash distracts Munthali with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Munthali has momentary wrist control but Dash slips an elbow through the middle.
Dash is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Munthali is trying to control the position but Dash postures up.

Dash postures up and lands a big shot to Munthali's brow.
Dash cracks Munthali with a solid left hand.
Dash wants to control from the top but Munthali keeps moving.
Munthali will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dash is in close to Munthali's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Munthali knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dash on the ground.

Dash drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dash jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Johnny Dash showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Dash tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Munthali manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Munthali drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Munthali closes the distance and clinches.
Dash wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Munthali has him pressed against the cage.

Munthali keeps control of Dash as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Dash is struggling to control the position.
Dash throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Munthali blocks it with crossed arms.
A bit of stalling here from Munthali.
Dash is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Munthali to keep the fight standing.
Munthali lands with a short shot to the head.

Dash wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Munthali lands a nice elbow.
Dash tries to land a knee to the head but Munthali blocks with his arms.

Munthali decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A slapping body kick lands there for Dash.

Dash digs a good body shot into Munthali's ribs.
Dash dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dash looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Munthali looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Munthali connects with a nice short shot to Dash's temple.
Munthali looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Dash escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Munthali gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dash wants to hit a switch here but Munthali passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dash there!

Munthali has control of Dash's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dash regains control of the situation pretty easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dash really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Muzi Munthali.
I think Munthali has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
