The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowan tries to close the distance and clinch but Powers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Powers jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cowan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Powers.
No joy there for Powers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cowan tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Powers counters with a straight right hand.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Cowan.
Powers clobbers Cowan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
It looks like Jimmy Cowan has been cut.
Powers lands with a cross.
Powers lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Cowan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cowan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Powers pinned against the cage. Powers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Howard Powers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Cowan.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cowan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cowan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cowan there as he acknowledges the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Powers lands with an uppercut that bounces Cowan off the cage and back into range.
The cut above Jimmy Cowan's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Powers lunges at Cowan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Cowan's hand.
Powers scores with a hook to the body. Cowan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Cowan looks winded!
Cowan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Howard Powers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powers changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Powers is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Cowan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Powers throws a nice looking combination but Cowan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Powers cracks Cowan with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Powers has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Cowan to stand back up!
Cowan is rocked!
Jimmy Cowan's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Powers lands a jab to Cowan's midsection.
Cowan is still on wobbly legs! Can Powers finish him?
A big right followed by a crushing left from Powers knocks Cowan out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
