Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emile Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Johny Hendricks was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emile Padilla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Hendricks! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hendricks stuffs the takedown. Hendricks moves into the clinch. Hendricks is trying to pull guard but Padilla turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Padilla tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hendricks smiles and moves away.
Hendricks lands with a good body shot. Padilla keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hendricks swinging wildly here.
Hendricks misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Emile Padilla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johny Hendricks. Hendricks moves into the clinch.

Hendricks wants to take the fight to the mat but Padilla manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Padilla is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Padilla stuffs the takedown attempt from Hendricks. Hendricks gets slowly back to his feet. Hendricks closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hendricks scores with a nice hook to the head. Padilla jumps guard but Hendricks turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Padilla trying to stall but Hendricks improves his position.
Hendricks jumps guard and drags Padilla to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Padilla trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hendricks's guard. Hendricks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Padilla controls the pace. Hendricks looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hendricks looking for a guillotine here but Padilla defends easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Hendricks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Padilla gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hendricks wants to stand but Padilla is controlling the position. Hendricks has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Padilla is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Padilla is looking to control Hendricks's arms but Hendricks gets an underhook and turns him. Now Padilla has his back to the cage. Hendricks lands a nice shot to the body. Padilla is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Hendricks's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Hendricks shoots in but Padilla avoids the takedown attempt easily. Padilla misses the shot to the body. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hendricks fails with the takedown. Hendricks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Padilla swivels and escapes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hendricks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Padilla, pushing him back against the cage. Padilla is looking to take this one to the mat. Hendricks is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Padilla to keep the fight standing. Hendricks letting Padilla take a breather here. Hendricks breaks the clinch.

Padilla wants to stand but Hendricks is controlling the position. Hendricks trying to control the position from guard on top but Padilla is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Padilla has a closed guard, preventing Hendricks from standing up. Padilla keeping full guard, as Hendricks tries to pass. Padilla pulls Hendricks in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Hendricks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Johny Hendricks hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Hendricks fails to land with a series of punches.

Padilla leaves Hendricks with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Padilla tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hendricks swivels and escapes. Hendricks throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Padilla counters with a nice uppercut. Padilla stuffs the takedown attempt from Hendricks. Hendricks gets slowly back to his feet. Johny Hendricks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hendricks has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hendricks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Padilla manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hendricks has Padilla in his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hendricks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hendricks holds on and takes a little breather.
That's one minute gone in the round. Padilla trying to control but Hendricks is working from the bottom. Padilla has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hendricks controls Padilla momentarily but Padilla frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Emile Padilla wasn't doing enough on the ground. Hendricks stuffs the takedown attempt from Padilla. Padilla gets slowly back to his feet. Hendricks clinches up with Padilla and pushes him back against the cage. Hendricks has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Padilla after a bit of a struggle. Padilla escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hendricks throws a body punch but Padilla moves out of range. Hendricks keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hendricks fails with a takedown attempt. Padilla shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hendricks as he jumps to the side.

Horrible takedown by Hendricks or perhaps it was just good defense by Padilla which made him look bad. Hendricks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Padilla, pushing him back against the cage. Padilla jumps guard but Hendricks stands there with Padilla around his waist. Padilla gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Johny Hendricks. Well Hendricks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
