The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sackett shoots for a takedown but Locos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Sackett misses with a double jab.
No luck for Locos with that takedown attempt. Locos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sackett looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sackett can do anything to dispel that myth. Locos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sackett to his feet. Sackett throws a right hand that Locos ducks under and follows up with a left that Locos also avoids with ease. Sackett gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Locos wants to control but Sackett passes into side.
Locos is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Sackett has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Sackett misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Locos closes the distance and clinches up with Sackett, looking for a takedown. Locos pushes Sackett against the cage but Sackett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sackett feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Locos sprawling to the canvas! Locos rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Sackett finish him?!
Locos is rocked! A combination from Locos does no damage. Oh Locos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sackett cracks Locos with a left hook right on the temple and Locos goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Sackett lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Locos is OK!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Yance Sackett!
