PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mac McNulty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matis Yahu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McNulty comes to the cage accompanied by Stranglehold - Ted Nugent. On his way into the cage it seems that Mac McNulty has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mac McNulty seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mac McNulty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matis Yahu!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yahu scores with a shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Yahu throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Yahu thows a body shot but no joy.
Yahu scores with a decent looking hook.
Yahu has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Yahu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

McNulty shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
McNulty stalling.
Yahu wants to control but McNulty is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McNulty slows the pace down in half guard.
McNulty seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We've been hearing good reports from McNulty's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Still in half guard, McNulty seems content to control.
Yahu trying to control but McNulty postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Yahu catches McNulty with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Matis Yahu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McNulty ducks under a wild hook from Yahu.

Matis Yahu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McNulty looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Yahu misses with a looping right.
Yahu lands a head shot.
Yahu lands with a good body shot.
Yahu misses with a wild body shot.
Yahu looks to land a left hand but McNulty moved out of range nicely.
Yahu scores with a jab to the head.
Yahu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McNulty.
Yahu is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McNulty.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McNulty moves out of range of the strikes.

Yahu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Yahu throws a jab when McNulty was well out of range.
McNulty slips a straight right by Yahu.
Yahu lands with a shot to the body.
Nice cross by Yahu.
McNulty uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yahu.
Yahu scores with a sloppy right hand. McNulty should have avoided that one.

and McNulty counters by clinching up.
McNulty goes for a takedown attempt but Yahu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Yahu lands a nice hook to McNulty's body. McNulty takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McNulty feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Yahu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McNulty controls the pace.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Yahu looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McNulty's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
McNulty seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
McNulty lands a couple of elbows.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yahu wants to sweep here but McNulty controlling him for the moment.
Yahu controls McNulty momentarily but McNulty frees himself.
McNulty looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matis Yahu dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Yahu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McNulty manages to avoid it.
A jab from Yahu does it's job there.

McNulty has managed to clinch.
Yahu has had enough of the clinch but McNulty keeps him there for the moment.
Yahu blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McNulty softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Yahu is trying to break the clinch but McNulty is controlling him.

McNulty pulls guard successfully.
McNulty is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Yahu is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McNulty scores with a couple of nice shots.

Yahu wants to get back to full guard.
McNulty is nestled in close to Yahu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Well, if McNulty is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Yahu is looking for a sweep. McNulty is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
McNulty takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McNulty drops an elbow to the side of Yahu's head.
McNulty prevents Yahu from standing back up.

McNulty working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Yahu is trying desperately to improve position.
McNulty avoids the attempt from Yahu to control.

Yahu wants to hold on but McNulty pushes him away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yahu can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like Matis Yahu has been cut.

Yahu is breathing heavily.
Yahu takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! McNulty's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mac McNulty!
Mac McNulty tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
