Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Artie Kemp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stefan Krieger!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kemp fails with the takedown.
Kemp throws the left hand but Krieger avoids the punch easily.
Krieger throws a big shot that misses.
Kemp tries a head kick but it misses.
Kemp fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kemp closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kemp breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kemp throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Krieger's head.
Krieger is looking to clinch.
Krieger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kemp's guard.
Kemp trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Kemp controls Krieger momentarily but Krieger frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krieger trying to control but Kemp is working from the bottom.
Krieger won't allow Kemp to get back to his feet.
Krieger drops back looking for a leg! Kemp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kemp manages to kick Krieger off! Krieger jumps back into Kemp's guard.
Krieger stands and steps away. Kemp gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kemp tries to bum rush Krieger with a series of wild strikes but Krieger uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kemp tries for a takedown but Krieger circles away easily
and Krieger counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kemp is breathing heavily.
Krieger is nestled in close to Kemp, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Krieger lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krieger controlling the action here.
Krieger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Krieger looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kemp with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kemp tries to roll over but Krieger keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Krieger moves into full mount! Kemp won't be happy about that!
Krieger is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kemp can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Krieger putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Kemp is rocked!
Krieger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Krieger postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kemp in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kemp to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stefan Krieger!
