PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Kanapka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Kanapka!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bryan gets tackled into the cage by Kanapka. Kanapka maintains the clinch.
Bryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kanapka creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Bryan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kanapka to keep the fight standing.

Kanapka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bryan closes the distance but Kanapka moves to the side
and Kanapka counters with a straight right hand.
A head kick by Bryan misses

and Kanapka counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kanapka.
Kanapka manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Kanapka prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bryan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kanapka pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Bryan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kanapka throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bryan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kanapka clinches with his opponent.
Kanapka is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Kanapka dodges an elbow strike from Bryan.
Kanapka prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kanapka gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Bryan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kanapka just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kanapka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bryan gets a clinch.
Bryan tries to pull guard but Kanapka won't allow it.
Bryan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kanapka prevents it.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Bryan tries for a takedown. No joy.

Kanapka lands a body punch.
Kanapka effectively controlling the action here.
Bryan jumps guard but Kanapka stands there with Bryan around his waist. Bryan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kanapka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kanapka closes the distance and clinches.

Bryan breaks from the clinch.
Kanapka misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bryan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kanapka's waist but Kanapka gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bryan off to one side.
Kanapka lands a jab-cross combination.
Bryan tries to clinch
and Kanapka connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
No joy there for Kanapka, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kanapka lands a two punch combo.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bryan tries to clinch up.

Kanapka moves into the clinch.

Bryan manages to break the clinch.
Bryan moves to clinch but Kanapka breaks away
and Kanapka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bryan moves in looking to clinch but Kanapka pushes him off.
Bryan darts in trying to clinch

and Kanapka counters by moving into the clinch.
Kanapka lands a nice uppercut.

Bryan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kanapka stuffs the takedown attempt from Bryan. Bryan gets slowly back to his feet.
Kanapka fails to land with a series of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bryan looks to clinch
and Kanapka counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Kanapka tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bryan defends well and Kanapka ends up having to push Bryan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kanapka decides to pull guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bryan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Kanapka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bryan drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Bryan as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Kanapka screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Bryan! Nice submission victory there!
