Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mako Hyuga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nico Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hyuga to the ground. Johnson is now in Hyuga's guard.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nico Johnson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Hyuga throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnson was covering up waiting for the punch and Hyuga finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hyuga got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hyuga has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hyuga wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

We've been informed that Johnson has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Hyuga stands up over Johnson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hyuga postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Johnson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hyuga off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nico Johnson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hyuga defends it easily.
Hyuga tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard.

Johnson keeping moving, preventing Hyuga from controlling successfully.
Hyuga slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Johnson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hyuga doesn't defend quickly enough and Johnson has managed to lock this one up! Can Hyuga escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Johnson on a fantastic submission victory.
