The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis misses with a takedown attempt - Essa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Essa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Essa feints and as Davis raises his hands in defense, Essa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Essa thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Essa wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
Essa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Davis really is a fat lump.

Let's hope that Essa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Faz Essa has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Davis gets caught flat footed, as Essa shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Essa jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Davis is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Davis and Essa has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Davis reaches up to try and control the position but Essa seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Davis rolls and tries to escape and now Essa has his back!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Essa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Essa throws a half hearted mid kick.
Davis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Essa moves away.
Essa shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Essa tries to sprawl but Davis drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Essa has his hands clasped together around Davis's back. He's all about the action.

Faz Essa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Davis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Essa has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.
Davis won't allow Essa to sweep him here.

Essa is looking for a triangle here but Davis uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Essa can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Davis slips a straight right by Essa.
Davis just misses with a punch to the body.
Essa moves in looking to clinch but Davis pushes him off.
Davis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Essa was well out of range. Poor timing from Davis.

Essa clinches up with Davis and pushes him back against the cage.
Thanh Davis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Faz Essa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Faz Essa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Essa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
