Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Gustin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenta Kobashi! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kobashi moves out of range of the strikes. Gustin throws a right hand that misses
and Kobashi counters with a nice kick to the body. Kobashi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gustin. Gustin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Jab, jab by Kobashi - just one landing.
It looks like Melvin Gustin has been cut. Kobashi lands a really nice looking cross but Gustin seems unphased.
A telegraphed right hand from Gustin misses the target. Kobashi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gustin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kobashi. We've been told by Gustin's head coaches at Gutz Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Gustin clobbers Kobashi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Kobashi thuds his shin into the meat of Gustin's side. Kobashi thumps Gustin with a low kick. Gustin looks to land a left hand but Kobashi moved out of range nicely. Gustin misses with a body kick. Both fighters circling a little - Kobashi finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kenta Kobashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kobashi misses with a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kobashi avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Gustin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kobashi staying out of range there. Kobashi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Kobashi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gustin.
Gustin throws a right hand that misses
and Gustin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A kick lands to the mid section there for Kobashi. Gustin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kobashi looks to throw the jab but Gustin is out of range. Gustin missing with a left hand there. Kobashi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gustin tries to work over Kobashi's front leg with a kick but Kobashi checks it. Kobashi throws a head kick that misses and Gustin counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Kobashi dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kobashi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gustin checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kobashi is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gustin. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kobashi tries to land a front kick but Gustin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Kobashi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gustin was well out of range. Poor timing from Kobashi. Kobashi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Gustin throws a looping overhand right but Kobashi ducks down to avoid it. Gustin takes a shot right to the bread basket. Gustin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kobashi. Kobashi obviously looking to wear him down.
Gustin swings for the body but Kobashi moves out of range.
Gustin throws a leg kick that is checked and Kobashi counters with a nice uppercut. Gustin throws a big shot that misses. Kobashi misses with a body punch
enabling Gustin to counter with a crisp jab. Gustin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gustin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kobashi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gustin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Kobashi throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gustin checks a leg kick. Kobashi throws a leg kick but Gustin checks it. Nice body kick there by Kobashi. Kobashi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kobashi throws a head kick but Gustin moves out of range.
Kobashi misses with an uppercut. Gustin saw that one coming. Gustin misses with a head kick.
Kobashi misses with an attempted mid kick.
Gustin cracks the inside of Kobashi's front leg. Kobashi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gustin takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kobashi throws a body kick that misses. Kobashi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gustin moves away. Kobashi throws the kick towards the body but Gustin avoids it. Gustin avoids the body shot from Kobashi.
A punch lands to the side of Kobashi 's head but he takes it in his stride. A chopping leg kick lands by Kobashi. Kobashi lands a jab. Kobashi throws a front kick aimed at Gustin's knee but Gustin avoids it well. Gustin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kobashi. Kobashi obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A chopping leg kick lands by Kobashi. Kobashi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gustin. Kobashi misses with a wild body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenta Kobashi dominated that round. The cut man is working on Melvin Gustin's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kobashi jabbing away but nothing is landing. Kobashi takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Gustin lands a leg kick that knocks Kobashi off balance momentarily. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gustin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kobashi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kobashi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. A left lands for Gustin. Kobashi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Gustin lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Kobashi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kobashi staying out of range there. The fighters circling - Gustin throws out the jab but it was never going to land. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kobashi throws a nice outside leg kick. Gustin is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Kobashi tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
That's one minute gone in the round. A leg kick checked by Kobashi. A solid leg kick lands there for Kobashi.
Kobashi lands with a kick to the temple. Gustin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Gustin throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kobashi throws a nice outside leg kick. Gustin blocks a head kick by Kobashi.
Kobashi connects with a single shot there. Gustin takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Kobashi is looking to slow Gustin down with leg kicks. Gustin fails to land with a series of punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kobashi misses with a body kick. Kobashi thuds a left hand into Gustin's body. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kobashi, right into the meat.

Gustin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gustin there as he acknowledges the shot.
Gustin is rocked! Kenta Kobashi seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gustin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Oh Gustin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kobashi throws a head kick that Gustin semi-blocks.
Kobashi throws a powerful right kick. Gustin tried to block low but the kick was high! Gustin was taken right off of his feet! Kobashi jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kenta Kobashi! Kenta Kobashi decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Melvin Gustin was interviewed post fight and said 'I got wrestlefucked.'.
