Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carl Jones will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tomas Shepherd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Jones!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones pushes Shepherd up against the cage in a clinch.
Shepherd is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jones is looking to break free of the clinch but Shepherd has double underhooks.

Jones pulls Shepherd into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Jones trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Jones isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Shepherd stacks Jones on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Shepherd!
Jones is looking for a sweep.

Shepherd thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Jones tries to bench press Shepherd off him but Shepherd keeps the position.
Jones wants to control but Shepherd postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jones wants to control but Shepherd postures up.
Jones is trying to work for a sweep but Shepherd has mounted him!
Jones is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Shepherd prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jones wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Jones can't escape the position.
Shepherd really is a fat lump.
Shepherd doesn't have the hooks in and Jones manages to turn into his guard.
Shepherd tries to strike from the bottom.
Shepherd looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

Jones wants to control from the top but Shepherd keeps moving.
Shepherd wants to hit a switch here but Jones passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Shepherd there!
Jones looking to control and managing it successfully.
Shepherd tries to reverse the position but Jones maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Shepherd manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is looking to control Shepherd's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted?

Shepherd not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tomas Shepherd just wasn't active enough.
Shepherd swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.
Jones fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shepherd is out of range.

Jones working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Shepherd's thigh. Shepherd counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shepherd throws a couple of heel strikes.

Shepherd looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jones has picked Shepherd up and slammed him! Shepherd can't keep hold of the triangle and Jones manages to pass to side control!

Jones is trying to get an arm triangle but Shepherd is defending well.
The ground and pound from Jones seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Jones decides to stand back up. Jones steps back and let's Shepherd get back to his feet.
Shepherd dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Shepherd is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Jones gets control of Shepherd's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Shepherd is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Shepherd controls from within his opponent's guard.

Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet.
Carl Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones is looking to stand up but Shepherd isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carl Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Shepherd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Shepherd checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shepherd enables Jones to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shepherd manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Jones is looking to advance position but Shepherd has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Shepherd sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jones tries to hold on but Shepherd pushes him away.

Jones throwing hammer fists to the chest of Shepherd. What's that going to do exactly?
Jones tries to lock up and control but Shepherd gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jones reaches up to try and control the position but Shepherd seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Jones rolls and tries to escape and now Shepherd has his back!
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jones. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Jones is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
What can Jones do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Jones trying to control the action but Shepherd just sinks the hooks in.
Jones is trying to get back to his feet but Shepherd has full control of the position and if anything, Jones has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Shepherd doesn't have the hooks in and Jones manages to turn into his guard.

Shepherd throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Shepherd lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
Jones tries to reverse the position but Shepherd maintains control.

Shepherd wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.

Shepherd is really struggling to control Jones but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Jones wants to hold on but Shepherd pushes him away.
Shepherd looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Tomas Shepherd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Carl Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

I would just about give that final round to Carl Jones.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
